Overview

The purpose of this mission site is to provide a brief overview of all up and coming short-term mission trips planned by Australian Vineyard churches. It is hoped that this summary will assist the churches to advertise their planned trip more broadly both to Vineyard and other churches. It will also provide simple details to any believer who wishes to be involved in short term mission assisting them in choosing the type of mission best suited to their giftings and circumstances.

Church involved

This is the name of the church that is principally involved in the organization of the mission trip. Eg Peninsula Vineyard Community Church

Mission organisation name

If a number of different churches and or denomination are involved on a regular basis there may be the need for an overall identifying name. This assists in promoting the mission locally and gives a sense of non denominational identity in the country you are visiting. This is extremely important where there are a number of different national church groups involved in the mission. E.g A.P.M. or Australian Philippine Mission

Date of next mission

This is the date the team departs from Australia. E.g. 1st January 2009

Duration of mission

This is the length of the mission. Short term mission trips are usually between 7-14 days.

Mission destination

This lists the country and city if applicable in which the mission is to be held.. Eg Cagayan de Oro City , Philippines.

Mission costs

This is the total cost the person will pay. It would include all flights, transfers, taxes, accommodation and meals. It may also cover the cost ( unless otherwise stated) of running the campaign in the designated city and all required resource materials. The only additional cost to the team member would be spending money. Eg $3000

Type of mission

There are various types of short term mission trips. The main purpose of this trip is: Evangelism, Teaching / Seminar, Medical, Social Support, Construction, Other: please list

Mission Church involvement

What is the number of national churches involved in the mission?
ie Localized = 1- 3 churches ; community = 4 - 9 churches; city wide = 10 + churches

Size of team

This is usually dictated by the type of mission and the availability of resources to organize and accommodate the team. Also financial and logistic issues will usually limit a team to a minimum and maximum size. We are looking to take a: Small team = under 10 ; Medium team = under 20 ; Large team = 20 +

Who can come

Apart from the obvious of needing to be a Christian, this will list any particular qualifications or disqualifications that may apply to any prospective team member.

These may include age, gender, fitness or denominational restrictions.

For example:

Open to all denomination not just Vineyard churches.
Male and female over the age of 14.
No serious medical conditions.
Reasonably fit.

Team involvement

This will list the different functions that each team member would be required to operate in during the time on mission. eg Share testimony; preach the gospel; pray for the sick; ; hospital visitation; church visits; home visitation; construction work, children’s ministry etc.

Training commitment

This lists the minimum level of commitment and training required for each team member in their preparation for mission. Eg. Six 2 hour sessions over a 3 month period involving both theory and practical application.

Passport and Visa requirements

This will list any special passport or visa requirements for the designated country. eg Passport must be current for at least 6 months from the end of mission. Australian passports do not require visa to / from the Philippines. Maximum stay is 21 days.

Health Information

This would detail any special injections required or local health issues in the area you will be visiting.

Further information

Any further information that may be peculiar to your proposed trip that people need to know. This may include information about the area you are visiting or any further information leaflets or promo DVD’s that may be available.

Information evening

This is an organized day or evening meeting where all prospective members can meet the leaders and learn more about the mission trip with a Q and A time.
